So I decided to be domestic and make homemade freezer jam with the peaches that my Grandpa had abounding on his tree. As I was reveling in my domesticity, I had some musings on how making peach freezer jam relates to life. I grabbed my camera and went to work.

Lesson #1 - Sometimes in life we have help (thanks Laura!), but sometimes that help has to leave and we are left to conquer our tasks and obstacles all on our own. If we stick to our guns, we can accomplish our goal and have a sense of ownership and fulfillment because we did it alone.

Lesson #2 - Sometimes we make huge, sticky, disgusting messes of our lives. But we have repentance (or
clorox cleanup) to help wipe away the destruction and start anew.

Lesson #3 - Sometimes we have to learn things over and over and over again to finally make them stick. While making strawberry jam with my Aunt Sharron a few years ago, I stuck the wooden spatula into the blender (while it was blending) and ended up with strawberry jam a la wooden shards. This year, I did the SAME STUPID THING with the peach jam. Will I remember this the next time? Why can't we remember the lessons we learn the first time and avoid additional heartache time and time again?

Lesson #4 - Sometimes life gives us plump, juicy, yummy peaches to work with... and sometimes we get the small, molded, bug infested peaches. If we are willing to spend a little extra time carving out the "bad spots" of our lives, we can still have extra tasty jam in the end.

Lesson #5 - Hard work yields very satisfying and very yummy results. Sharing our results with others is yet another way we can bring happiness to ourselves and those around us. :)
(Oh and sometimes the results of our hard work tastes really awesome with butter on homemade rolls and warm toast.)

So true...so true. Sorry to ditch out on you. I just wanted you to learn lots of lessons. :)
My mouth is watering just thinking about it. Yummy!
I think you just wanted to go buy a new wooden spoon.
Love that you did that to the spoon twice. It's totally something I would do too! Love you guys!!
Girl you sure put a lot of that into that jam. Looks yummy!
That was Deep! I wish we were there to help you eat it:) Love you!
Love it - I've so been there. But may I recommend - an Immersion blender. I love them and they have saved many a wooden spoon. It took a few wooden spoons though to learn my lesson.
I guess the closest I am coming to sharing you jam is looking at the beautiful pictures! Thanks for the life lessons.
Y'all will have to come back to Tejas for the weekend of June 19, 20, 21. It is PEACH JAMBOREE at Stonewall, Texas in the hill country. We'll just make you some jam and send it over.
Life lessons from freezer jam. Wait until you try the triple berry jam... now that is a real life lesson as the berries stain EVERYTHING!
We love you!
So I enjoyed your thoughts, they were really great. The jam looks pretty good too. But I would really LOVE to have your kitchen aid mixer!! Enjoy the fruits of your labor!
So sad that we didn't get to see you and meet your precious Emma before we moved! Maybe when we come back for a vist? Until then...we'll keep checking in through blogworld!
Hook me up, Sistah! YUM! I make the same mistakes every year when I make strawberry jam. Good thing I like strawberry syrup. :)
Could I be anymore impressed? Am I really supposed to believe that you are not a superhero after you accomplished all of that AND have an infant? I want to be like Tammy when I grow up!
There is nothing more satisfying as seeing jars of jam on your counter! I love that!
