Beginning to Look A Lot Like Christmas!

Sure. We picked out our very own LIVE tree... and hauled it all the way from the selection area to our car. It was straight from a Hallmark Christmas TV Special.

Sure the ground was not snow covered and well, we may have pulled it across a mere 50 feet of parking lot to get to our car. But, we had TONS of Christmas Spirit while doing it. Does that count for anything?

Thanks Home Depot.

And yes, I am Mrs. Scrooge McTree. I don't like anything homemade or sentimental on my tree. I just like it to look like a Christmas catalog. I get it. I'm missing the point. But guess what? Don't care. Still like my picture perfect tree. Some day when we are rich and famous Greg has made me promise that we will have a "his and her" tree set. His will have all the homemade love a tree can handle and mine will not. I think that is an appropriate compromise. Until that time however, I win. No shocker for anyway who knows my hubby and knows that he is quite possible the nicest most accommodating guy on the planet.

Greg looks a little frazzled here because we had been trying for the last 5 minutes to get Emma to smile for the stupid camera. What is her problem anyway?

Merry Christmas everyone! What are some of your holiday time traditions leading up to Christmas? I'm ready to steal them if you don't mind.

Ooh, your tree looks great. I'm with you. One day when we have the big $$ I want to go to a tree auction where the trees are pre-decorated and just stunning, and auctioned off for charity. I'm going to buy one of those. Then I don't even have to decorate it either!

I agree about homemade ornaments on the tree. I put all the kids ornaments on the back of the tree where no one can see them. Someday I want my kids to have their own little trees in their room.

We have a tradition of receiving more Christmas cards than the Adams! Even if a little "cheating" is involved.

Hmmm...I didn't realize you were a perfect Christmas tree person, but I did realize that you would win the battle over whose tree would be displayed. One of my neighbors decorated her tree with big black and white photos of her kids. It was really incredible!

Sorry, didn't mean to dis on your tree in my last post. :) My favorite tradition is a FHE lesson about Baby Jesus sleeping in the manger and we talk about where everyone sleeps so they'll stop sleeping in Mom and Dad's bed. Might do a post on that soon. :)

We buy an ornament every year that symbolizes what has happened that year (or that we like). I'm guessing you won't want to steal that one. :)

I'm so into the non sentamental tree. We solve that problem by having 5 trees. Yes, I said 5. The kids each have one in their room. One in the living room, kitchen and the family room. All themed. And then kids have thier tree with their stuff. Crazy but, I love it. Our new tradition is a manger that you put straw in for acts of service. We also have an elf on a shelf that moves daily, great fun! Oh and Santa checks on us and leaves presents in our stockings. Besides the baskets of cookies and other acts of service, that we keep within out family.

we're still apartment dwellers, so we still have our giant wreath of ornaments. someday we will have room for a tree. our traditions: find some snow (we usually have to drive up into the mountains) to make a snowman. We watch Elf and the Grinch and Rudolph and Frosty, and get as many Christmas books from the library as we can. I've just fallen in love with Jan Brett's website--she has a lot of fun coloring pages. I don't know if Emma likes to color yet, or if any of this is helpful, but I would love to know if you have any favorite Christmas books for kids?

Ahh, isn't Home Depot the best place for a tree... :)I have ornaments from many years of being involved in an ornament exchange. I have ornaments that say "baby's first Christmas" (will give to her when she's married and has a tree of her own). I'm into advent calenders. When my little one is older, I will fill the days on the calender with things to do for that day: make a craft, go see lights etc.

we bought mini trees for the kids last year on clearance, they decorate them with whatever/however. Glad to know I am not the only tree nazi. I have people look at me with shock when I tell them I don't like all the strange things my kids make for the tree---like decorations made from line paper and scotch tape.

I love to see the beautiful trees, but I love mine better. Everything on the tree has a memory. Bruce and I buy an ornament every year with the year on it, someday when the kids are grown, and take all their special ornaments, we will have a tree full of our years together. Years ago our tree was bear, now it is full of beautiful memories, it is perfect to me.
