Mom: (turns off hall light)
Emma: Mom! Please turn on the hall light, I'm scared of the dark.
Mom: Emma, you have your night light that keeps you safe.
Emma: But Mom, I'm scared of the dark and I need the hall light on too!
Mom: No you don't, you never sleep with the hall light on.
Emma: (panicked) Mom! PLEASE leave the hall light on, I'm scared of the dark.
Mom: Well then close your eyes and it won't be dark anymore.
Emma: (after long pause of pondering this option) .............. OK. Good night.

"Miss Sassy Pants of the World"...Love it! And probably very fitting, but she's a hoot to watch from the sidelines!
Niiiice! Clearly she was just too tired to fight back at that point. Because I know a certain girl of equal sassy pantsness, and when they're on their game, NOTHING outsmarts them. But, for your sake, I'm super happy you won that battle.
Way to go! I hope you made a record of it. I love the Tangled dress.
Hard to argue with that logic. Way to go mom!
OMGosh! I have the same conversation with my daughter at nights too! So glad I'm not the only mom that goes through that. Bedtime lasts sooooo long.
What is the deal with kids who've never slept with the hall light on who turn 3 and suddenly need it desperately!? :)
Well, I agree with Allyson that she must have just been too tired to fight anymore. :) Love that Emma.
That is awesome!!! Nice work. :)
Haha, Oh Emma, Oh Tammy, so darn cute! She is soooo smart, most kids would have fought and argued, but not Emma, she realized your right, its true... closed eyes = no lights.
Bed times are going to put me into the looney bid... I swear why don't kids just get it, it happens everynight :) Miss you!
and your e-mail by the way had me crying I was laughing so hard!
you are a friggin' genius. good work.
Tammy, too funny! Trust me, don't get to cocky yet! She might just be giving you that one, to fight and win another day.
My girls and I have been looking at your blog. We watched "Called to Serve" about three times. A giggled everytime. Classic!
Hope your feeling well. And tell Gregg, I'm sorry about his Dad. I know he's been battling for some time.
Love you girl
Tamee
