I. Heart. Swimming.

I have recently discovered something about myself. And after 30 (almost 31) years of living... I am pleased.

I really enjoy swimming. Not just recreational swimming. I really love swimming as a form of exercise. It is hard and I am EXHAUSTED when I'm finished, but I LOVE IT.

Greg and I have completed almost 6 weeks of training for our triathlon. It is going well and as part of this journey I have found my new swimming passion. I have always secretly wished that I could *LOVE* running. But I don't. I run 2 miles, 3 times a week for our training, but I don't like it. AT ALL. It is a means to an end.

I actually look forward to my swimming days and I love shoving my HUGE head of curly hair under my swim cap, snapping on my goggles, plugging my ears with plugs and jumping in the pool. I am not a pro, my form is horrible and I'm slower than molasses, but I enjoy it.

It's fun to see progress in my training, as well. When I started, I did 50 meters and literally thought my lungs were going to explode. I can now swim 300-400 meters with no problem and I know I'll continue to improve.

Now if the IPOD could just become waterproof...

They do make ipods for swimming. My mother in law has one. I'll find out who makes them and let you know!

I love it too and wish I could do it more! Reading this brought back memories of the good ol' BYU issue swimsuit aerobic days. That was so fun. I still laugh when I think of the exercises they made us do on those pool noodles. Glad to share one with my BFF! :)

I once had a roommate who loved to run but hated to swim. We were opposites because I love to swim but HATE (I mean HATE) to run. So we took a poll and with almost everyone it was one or the other. You either love to swim or run but rarely both. Welcome to the swimmers club!

RIGHT ON GIRLFRIEND!! I'm SOoooo excited for your triathlon! You will do super duper awesome! You WILL become addicted! Swimming IS the best!! GREAT exercise for your body too without any of the strain from running or biking... PERFECT!! I know, when I swim, i feel like I talk to myself. My other personality comes out and we CHAT... because we're 'tight' like that! :-) (by the way, that pool looks DIVINE)

What race are you doing and when?

Growing up a swimmer I thought I hated to run too. BUT, as it turns out, when I started training a certain way for my run, I began to LOVE it! Maybe you will learn to love running too. It is possible.

So glad you have discovered the joy of swimming. The quiet sound of bubbles around your head as you swim is cathartic, IMO. :)

Good job Tammy!

Genius idea about the iPod. Too bad someone beat you to the punch, you could have been a millionaire! Good luck with your training. You are awesome!

They do have swimming MP3 players. They attach to your goggle straps. They work really well. If you like swimming that much, you should check it out

If you need any tips on your training for the triathlon, you know my parents do them all summer every summer. They have had a trainer and have many training programs if you are interested. And we should be there in a week from tomorrow, finally!! I would be glad to help you with sewing but I am not the best at it, I am trying to get better. See you soon!!

How do I find a triathlon in my area?

I am also a huge fan of swimming and look forward to getting back to it once we move. I am not all that great, my form is horrible too, but you know what, it works. And I enjoy it. AND, it is the ONLY type of exercise that makes my herniated disk in my back go.away.completely. It's true. I used to be able to walk and walk and walk, but it seems each time I get pregnant, my back hurts more. Right now it kills after even half a mile or being on my feet all day. I find for my back pain, the best relief is my own version of the "butterfly" stroke. I probably do it all wrong, but after doing a few laps of that, my pain is gone for several days.

Good luck on your triathalon! Don't think I ever could do it. Maybe someday.

Congratulations on the swimming. I have always wanted to try my hand at swimming, but I think I might drown. I don't really know how to breathe with my head that close to the water. You are an inspiration! And no worries about Saturday. We'll hang out another time. :)

Good for you Trix, I'm so happy you've found the swimming love. It really is the greatest! I'm also so proud of ya for training for the tri, it's the best. I can't wait until it's time for this Tri. I'm with you though, I rather detest running, could do without it always. Ok, and word to the wise, I'm back from the blogger dead, FINALLY!

I also LOVE swimming! :) I haven't done much of it lately (I know...bad), but I need to get back to it. However, I used to HATE running, but have discovered that I actually like it. I did my first 10 miles last week, and this weekend I ran a 10K! :) I even ran the whole time! I'm so excited to do this tri with you, too. It's going to be so much fun to have so many people there. I'm also excited because Troy has finally (FINALLY) decided to get on this exercising bandwagon, so maybe...just MAYBE he'll join us??? :) One can always hope.
