Conspiracy Theory!

I've never been one to follow along with supposed governmental "conspiracy theories". I believe Elvis is dead, JFK was killed by Lee Harvey Oswald, and 9/11 was not an inside job.

However, we have a VERY serious conspiracy theory in our midst and I am going to get to the bottom of it.

WHERE IN THE WORLD HAVE ALL THE CONVERSATION HEARTS GONE?

I'm talking about the good ol' Brach's and Necco brands. Not the yucky Sweetheart sweet-tart ones that are consuming the stores.

I love holidays and mostly because of the food associated with them. 4th of July BBQ's, Thanksgiving Dinner, Christmas Cookies... you get my point. My food associated with Valentines Day are conversation hearts. The really soft ones. The ones that are filled with straight sugar and coat my throat and teeth with layers of yummy-ness. During my lonely single days they gave my heart something to be happy about during this generally bleak day. You think I'm kidding? I seriously look forward to them as much as Cadbury Eggs at Easter.

I have been to MANY MANY stores in the last few weeks and each stop, I take one browsing glance through the Valentines section, avoiding all other sweets, but DESPERATELY looking for my beloved Brachs or Necco conversation hearts. Nothing. Nada. Zero selection at Fry's, Safeway, Wal-Mart, Dollar Store, CVS, Gas Stations, Costco, and MORE. How could a Valentines Day STAPLE go missing like this? Are Brachs and Necco going bankrupt? Surely I keep them afloat with my mass consumption of hearty heart heart goodness?

Again, not talking about the Sweetheart Sweet-tart CRAPOLA that is currently monopolizing the conversation heart shelf.

Where or where could be conversation hearts be? And how can I possibly celebrate this holiday with any ounce of love in my heart without my sugar induced coma from eating an entire bag?

I respectfully disagree. Sweet-tarts are the BEST! I have some Brach's brand from last year that you can have. The only reason they haven't been trashed is because I found out you can use them as chalk.

Seriously though, tell me if you want my yucky conversation hearts and I'll mail them to you!

:) You make me smile.

Tammy, I hate to do this, but I must respectfully disagree, too. ALL sugar-y candy is yuck. Give me chocolate or give me ... more chocolate.

Happy Valentine's day!

I, for one, (apparently!), AGREE!! Not that I don't like sweet-tarts, cause I do, but when I want conversation hearts it's a whole different heart!

My aunts and I were just saying the same thing!!! We have the Necco hearts here but they changed the flavors on us. They are not good!

If you could find some, please let me know. I use them as decorations (and eating). I like the ones that just melt in your mouth.

I was thinking the same thing yesterday at CVS. Let me know if you find them.

I now have a mission while shopping. I'll let you know if I find anything. (the white ones are the best)

I completely agree - give me Necco's or nothing! I bought some a couple of weeks ago and they were so yucky we threw them away. I can't find the good brands anywhere either.

I just got home from Target and they had the Brach conversation hearts there - in big and small. But my Target is all the way in Pennsylvania so I'm not sure if they have got them out there in AZ!

I found the necco ones today at Dollar tree. I only looked for you when I went to buy pencils for my students. They also had necco Conversation heart flavored lip balm. I think that may be taking it a little to far. But, it's there for your wearing pleasure. Let me know if you found them if not I'll try to stop and get some to send to you.

That's funny, your mom just said the same thing the other day. I confess--my only love of valentine's hearts besides making fun messages on cookies is the mint ones. Any other flavor is kind of blah. But I wish you success in your search.

I bought Necco sweet-hearts thinking they were the sweet-tarts, but they were the chalk kind. I for one like the sweet-tart ones, but Bruce likes the Necco chalk ones. The kids did not care, if it has sugar and will rot teeth it is good. Apparently they changed the packaging and the flavors for the Necco brand sweethearts... I would not know because I think they are yucky either way! The new package does not say Necco on it, just Sweethearts and New England Confectionery Company and the website necco.com Good hunting (I found mine at Fry's)
