We are followers.

I've been told most of my life that I am a leader.

But sometimes... when I am weak and impressionable...I follow.

Here's the story:

July 2011 - Emma begins her first fairy tale dance class. Emma and most of the other kids just came in regular clothes. A few were in dance clothes, but they were the exception. It is after all a CHEAP City of Tempe class that runs about $2.50/class.

September 16 and 23, 2011 - Emma starts another session of fairy tale dance class. Same teacher, different peers. This time EVERY. SINGLE. GIRL. is adorned in darling dance clothes. Every single one! I thought that this certainly could not happen every week, so I waited another week and it happened again! I watched every little girl march into dance class all dolled up, and then in strolls Emma in jean shorts and flip flops. When Emma came out of class, she instantly told me that she was the only girl in class that "didn't match" and that she had to borrow dance shoes from the teacher. My evil pride set in. I texted Greg immediately and told him that we would be buying Emma dance clothes ASAP.

So much for saving money on a "cheap" class.

Here is the result for her September 30th class:

Needless to say, she was THRILLED. Now getting dressed for dance class is the highlight of her LIFE. She asks every day to wear her leotard.

And speaking of followers -

Greg followed his friends (of 259 fame*) up to Utah for a quick "guys trip". The rest of them got to attend the BYU Football game, but Greg had to work and flew in about 3 hours after the game finished. They had a WONDERFUL trip and it was very therapeutic for Greg to leave the stress of his "normal" life and just relax with friends. They called it their "259 Reunion Trip" and they even had enough funds in their 259 account to pay for most of the trip!

*259 is a acapella boy band Greg was in that peaked in popularity during his high school and college days.

And just because I found these great pics on my camera while writing this post...

Tommy (Laura's Fiance) and Emma all snuggled up on the kitchen floor. They get married in 10 days and we are counting down with EXCITEMENT!!

Oh geez. Could you ever get a better Dad than this?

Totally didn't even pose the picture. I looked over and this was happening.

Love this man (and the kids are cute too).

Aliya would have felt the same way about wanting to "fit in." For sure I would have done the same thing. Plus, it seems necessary for every little girl to own a leotard, right?

I can totally see 259 doing "The Sing-Off" next year. What do you think? Is there an age limit? They would so win!

Love the new dance attire. With how cute she looks in it, the purchase would've been worth it even if she wasn't attending an actual class :)

Love the guys' photo. They all look so good!

Can't wait to see wedding/reception pictures :)

I feel the same way about dance attire. Kyla and Allie needed black leotards, pink tights and dance shoes for their cheap rec center ballet class. The dance tights had holes in them after 2 classes, but they keep wearing them. Now I have to make TWO tutus (each) for their recital in December. Sheesh!

Oh, and I wish I would have snapped a few more pics of the guys. I couldn't tell on my camera that this one was a little blurry. Boo. Maybe we can sharpen it up a bit in photoshop...

While she was getting ready for dance class at playgroup she was behind the picnic table and says, "Hehehe, I'm naked!" While Aubrey was leaving I asked Emma if I could join her dance class. She said no. I asked if it was because of my dark hair (she was standing next to Whitney) and she said, "Yes. You need to have yellow hair." So I asked if Kristie could join since she had yellow hair. "No," Emma said. Her reason? "She's too big." We laughed and Hillary says, "Well I'd rather my reason for not joining be my dark hair and not because I'm too big." Haha...loved it. I told her since I couldn't join I'd be taking Grant...She LOVED that.
