Tri Chasing Cupid

WELP. We did it again. We successfully completed another triathlon. 5K Run, 12 mile bike and 400 m swim.

And we LOVED it. We finished. We were slow and steady, but we finished!

Our friend Dixie was the organizer and did such an excellent job. We also had a lot of friends that participated, which made is so much more enjoyable.

Here we are with Emily, McKane and Kenz - we were missing Porter and Lana in this pic!! :(

Laura and Tom were kind enough to babysit the kids for us and bring them to the last bit of the race. It was so cute to see little Emma and Grant cheering us on. Emma was there after the bike as we were running to the pool to give us high fives!

Once we got in the pool she told Laura that she wanted Greg to win because he was her number one Daddy.

Here we are exhausted after the race. We ran together, and biked about half together until I realized that Greg was coasting to stay back with me. I told him to go ahead for the last portion of the bike. When I got to the pool Greg was two laps ahead of me. I just knew I could catch him, because he had not trained even ONCE for the swim and I had been swimming for 4 months. After a few laps, we both came up for air at the end of a lane and he was only one lap ahead. I looked him straight in the eyes and said, "I'm coming for you". And that I did. I caught up with him after a few more laps and then ended up beating him by two laps. He beat me in our last triathlon, so I was glad to redeem myself. Now we need to do one more for the tie breaker. :)

What do you get when only THREE people are competing in your age group?

THIRD PLACE baby and a place on the "podium".

Ha ha. Un-athletic me thought it was pretty funny to actually place third in this. But, hey, I finished, so I will take my glory. A friend on facebook said that I could have quit and then I would not have taken third. Which is totally true and made me accept my victory with a little confidence.

Yeah for triathlons and all the fun training they provide.

We sure had a GREAT TIME!!

P.S. - What a wonderful p.s. indeed. After the triathlon, while attending cousin Tate's birthday party at the train park, Emma threw up all over herself and Greg. When we ran to the bathroom, we realized that there were no paper towels... only hand dryers. So I stripped Emma down and sent my MIL to the gift shop to find a few t-shirts for Emma and Greg to wear home. When we got home, Grant started throwing up a few hours later, and Greg a few hours after that. UGH. Luckily I did not get the bug, but had an enjoyable 24 hours cleaning up after my family's intestinal problems. What a way to celebrate our fabulous triathlon morning! :)

Way to go! I'm impressed. You make me want to find a triathlon I can handle and start training. :)
