Cupcake/Cookie Party - Take TWO

Sometimes I learn from my mistakes.

Sometimes.

This was one of those times.

If you are a regular reader of my blog, you may remember last year's near fatal cupcake/cookie party for Miss Emma.  Too many kids, one adult, disastrous results.

This year, I was hoping that Emma would forget about her idea of having an annual cupcake/cookie party every summer.  She didn't.  And I decided that although I didn't want to squelch her hopes and dreams of summer fun, I could learn from the past and make some changes to the second annual party.

We only invited 6 kids.  And I planned it when my brother was in town, so that I could have another set of hands with the decorating.  I baked WAY in advance, so that it was not stressful and my oven could be on in the early morning hours (which is the only time it is tolerable in Arizona heat).

Emma and I created the invites together.  She loved them so much that she wanted to laminate them (I just got a new laminating machine for my Primary calling).  Since it didn't really put me out much time or effort, I told her that we could, and then we hand delivered her laminated invites to her friends.  She had a hard time choosing only 6 friends.  But she did it.

We chose lots of different shapes this year, which was super fun.  And then let the kids choose what shapes they wanted in rotating turns.  I think that was the funnest part of the party.  They were each so careful about selecting the perfect cookie shape for them.

Here is the best group pic.  Should have taken more pictures, but it was still a little busy keeping everyone happy and entertained.  Her guest list this year included: Jane Parrins, Lucy and Molly Fisher, and Shea, Paige and Easton Stayner.  Of course, Grant was a shoe in, and Uncle Glen was visiting from Kentucky!

This year we had a LOT of fun, it was very enjoyable for me and I think I could actually continue the tradition next summer.
