We overdosed...

ON MUSICAL THEATER!
I guess you could say musical theater is our crack/cocaine and we overdosed last weekend. But what a wonderful trip it was! No hangovers, no arrests and purchased at a fraction of the cost! I am lucky enough to be married to a man who enjoys musical theater as much as I do and who feels that it is completely justified to spend our money on good tickets. I know Greg is a rarity and I am so grateful! In fact, on our second date EVER, my handsome prince took me to see "Beauty and the Beast". Only 2 days prior to him asking, and LONGING to see the show, I said to my friend Lara, "If he asks me to see Beauty and the Beast I will marry him." I'm a woman of my word.

We saw Rob Gardner's Blackbeard on Friday night (opening night) and it was PHENOMENAL. Really amazing. The singing, the acting, the set, the music, the score, the costumes, the script, the lighting, everything was really WONDERFUL!! We are going back three more times and I can hardly wait to see it again! Thanks to Auntie JJ who babysat our little angel while we enjoyed dinner with great friends and a super fantastic show.
We saw "A Chorus Line" on Saturday night. This was the first show of our Broadway season tickets at Gammage. Let's just say that after Blackbeard, I was a little disappointed. It is a little dirty, a little boring and for being a show about dancing, there was surprisingly little dancing. Frankly, I would much rather watch "So You Think You Can Dance" and would concur that the dancers are more talented on the TV show than we saw on stage. We had a wonderful time with my Aunt Sharron (who we share tix with) and are very appreciative of Greg's parents for watching Emma.
On another NON overdose/crack/cocaine note... our precious angel is turning 8 months on September 11th. Greg and I found this outfit when I was about 6 months pregnant and I almost started crying in Old Navy. Really, her shirt says it all. We are so happy and so grateful that after 5 years of waiting and wishing and hoping, our adorable miracle baby was finally born.

I have heard such great things about Blackbeard (how it belongs on Broadway), I really wish we could see it! So please enjoy it for us.

Also, that shirt is about the most adorable thing I have ever seen!

LOVE that shirt. It really does say it all, for any baby, but especially for yours! She's a doll!
And I am jealous of your season tickets. Those would be much more appealing to me than the ASU season football tix that Darrell gets every year-which I never get to use anyway since he goes with his brother! I wonder if I could convince him to trade them in...

How wonderful to be able to spend some couple time.

I love the shirt! So cute! I love her look on her face. I can't believe she is already eight months.

Ahhhhh that is the sweetest!! I love that darling little Emma. She just gets cuter and cuter every day.
We are excited about Blackbeard too! I haven't gone to a good show for a while. Trent isn't as great about shows as Greg, but I think he'll like it. :)

Wow, that sounds like an amazing new musical! I'd love to see it sometime. That's so neat you guys go out to see shows together--I love that idea of season tickets!

And I love the picture of your little girl! She is such a doll--what an adorably true shirt. :)

I love that darling shirt--and the even more darling girl wearing it. We're also so grateful for our miracle cousin. And we're jealous that we can't see Blackbeard. I think I will have to just buy the music.

We need to get our children together more often. I hear you with A Chorus Line, I enjoyed the movie dancing more. I am lucky as well, Richard doesn't mind buying me tickets to shows. If only I could get him to stay awake through them is another story.

What fun to go see some musicals. I love them! We almost had a girls night to see Chorus Line but I read up on it and decided we should skip it. Too bad it really wasn't good. I hope the shows you see in the future are better.

That shirt that Emma is wearing is too cute and appropriate. She is such a cute little one. She is so lucky to have such an amazing mom and dad.

Tammy, I love that little outfit. Maybe I'll have a little one in an outfit like that someday too. I just wanted to say hi. Also, regarding an earlier post, Left to Tell is an certainly an incredible book. I did exactly what you did, remembering what I was doing in 1994 and wondering how something so horrific could be happening to someone else when life was so good here. She is definitely an incredible example of keeping faith through trials.

Crack whores and rednecks get knocked up right and left and have no understanding of the challenges that can come to certain folks when conceiving children. Infertility is still one of the last realms of discrimination and ignorance.

I agree that they are WELL worth the wait! And well worth the EXPENSE! "Assisted Baby Conception" (ABC) children are worth their weight in platinum. And we love every pound of their chunky cheeks and dimpled bums.
