How Does Your Garden Grow?

My favorite little flower in our garden has sprouted her FIRST TOOTH. She is a little behind schedule and is actually developing her top teeth first, which is backwards from most kids. But she is getting them nonetheless. If you look REALLY closely in this picture, you can see that bad boy peeking through her smile. We are a little concerned because this "said tooth" is the size of an adult tooth (or small country) and I think our little angel is going to sport an awkward "chicklet" smile for awhile. I guess she has to have some flaw to make her humble. :)

Here we are celebrating Linda's (undisclosed) birthday. We had the family over for dinner, as her actual birthday falls on Halloween and we were all out hoarding candy. Happy Birthday to a wonderful mother-in-law! She is so good to Greg, Emma and I and we feel blessed to live close.

We finally redid the landscaping in our backyard and laid down mulch instead of the previously hideous dirt/dead grass combo. Low maintenance is the name of our game!!

I got brave/crazy this Fall and decided to attempt a vegetable garden. My "green thumb" is so BROWN that it has killed cactus before. I know, I know...impossible, right? Not for Tam Bam! Luckily, this time around, I had some church friends who gave me step by step instructions that are supposedly fool proof. I am certainly a fool when it comes to this stuff, so I appreciated the guidance. Greg and I built the box and bought the "special" soil mixture. We are trying Square Foot Gardening because of our minimal space. It seems to be growing well now, but I'm not sure if it will last through the winter, as I realized too late that our patio does not get any direct sun light. Worse case scenario, I'll try again in the Spring and Summer when we do get direct sun light. Here's for hoping!!

I remember when baby Glen got his teeth while your parents were at temple training. Do you? None of my kids have been up at night with teeth. They are so fun. She looks adorable. Congrats on the garden. You've gotten farter than I would have.

Okay. . . That green, flowered sweater Emma is wearing is the cutest thing I have ever seen. She looks so adorable.

We're hoping to get some boxes built in our side yard for a garden over there if we can EVER get all the gravel hauled away!!! :) But I'll be picking your brain for what you planted and what soil you got etc... I truly know nothing!

Emma is GORGEOUS!!! Is she betrothed yet? If not, and she's cool with younger men, we would like to set something up:) AND, I would like to say that I am SO GLAD to not be the only one who has killed a cactus before! I thought I was alone in that "accomplishment." All I can say is, it looked pretty dry, so I gave it a little extra water. Just trying to be helpful:)

First of all, FINALLY an update, I get so impatient for you to write, 'cause your updates make me happy and stuff. Secondly, you go with your bad gardening self! WOOT! And finally, I totally understand the giant teeth thing, Maggie has some large teeth herself. In fact, she only has 8, but it looks like her mouth is full, 'cause they're so big they fill up the space. Should be fun when the "real" teeth make their appearance a few years from now. Good luck with the teething, hope Emma is as nice about it as Maggie was.

Well, I will be coming to you for some gardening expertise and help when we're finally ready to get started on ours! :) I'm proud of you for trying. I'm scared to death to try, but we're going to. We'll probably have to wait until after the winter because we have to finish the backyard first, and with the cold coming it's probably not best. But I can't wait to hear all about yours!
