On Tuesday, in the span of approximately 12 hours, my sister, my daughter and myself flew to LA and back to Phoenix. Why, you ask? My brother, Chuck, returned from his 2 year LDS church mission in Fiji and had a layover in LA. How could we possibly miss an opportunity to see him before the rest of the family? :)

We told him that Laura was coming, so that he knew to expect someone at the airport, but we kept Emma and I a surprise! Obviously, from the picture below Emma was just BUSTING with excitement and energy. :) This was actually the only sleep she got all day, and it was for a whopping 30 minutes. Poor little thing.

Chuck was such an excellent missionary in Fiji! We are so proud of him and his hard work. But...it is sure nice to have him home now!!

He got all of the married couples these really cool masks with our name scratched into the bottom. Maybe it can be Emma's Halloween costume this year? She seems to like it!

It took Emma a bit to warm up to Uncle
Chucky, but within 10 minutes she was crawling and climbing all over him while screaming, "
Kuck,
Kuck,
Kuck". She sure is lucky to have so many fun uncles to play with her!

We are not able to go to Kentucky for his homecoming, but seeing him in LA, even for a few short hours was SO GREAT!! We now look forward to seeing him again at our family reunion in June!
YIPPY!! For those few family members out there... here is the video of Chuck coming off the plane.

I can't believe it has been two years!!! Welcome home, Chuck!
How fun!!! He looks so grown up...especially since I haven't seen him in a while. :) I'm glad you were able to see him.
He looks so handsome!! What a fun post! Dang it really makes me crave a big booty party and some Fletch! You know, it seems like yesterday I was bunking in his room with this enormous poster of his face. Why doesn't anyone ever fly into Houston? I have this house where I could put people up if hopefully, their flights got canceled or something! :)
Come on people, LA or HOUSTON! Yeah!
SO Fun!
how fun! I feel so old. I remeber him as a baby in my YW classes. You have the best family. Glad you go to surprise him!
Where is little Chucky? That's a grown man there! So how much did the mission change him? Can he still sing all the lyrics of "High School Musical?"
P.S. By Greg, I mean "this is Lara!"
Oh, what wonderful times - I loved that kid from first glance at Central Baptist Hospital. There is a big, lonesome spot in the Fiji Mission. Welcome home, Chuck - you are loved. Thanks for sharing, Tammy.
By the way, Emma is delightfully lovely and looks strangely like Jeff....
It's about time he got home. I've been waiting for him for two years; now I'm ready to put him through college. :)
I can't believe Chuck is so grown up. I will forever think of him and John as your little tiny brothers running around practically in diapers.
