ONE Healthy Baby

When we first met with Dr. Zoneraich of Advanced Fertility Care in October of 2006, he told us that he didn't believe in implanting more than two embryos because it caused significant health risk to the mother and baby(ies). No octomom doc here. And for that we are very grateful.

He said, "my goal is one healthy baby and one healthy mother".

In 2008 we got our first healthy baby.

We went in for our first ultrasound of this pregnancy Monday, and saw our second healthy baby growing like a little peanut. That's right. ONE. Everyone was "for sure" we were having twins, but I guess the Lord knows I need them one at a time. We are still SO THRILLED with our wonderful miracle. We are so incredibly grateful for this blessing.

We heard the heart beat, and I was 6 weeks and 5 days along. Amazing.

I was too lazy to scan the pic, so you get a picture of the picture, which is blurry for sure. Sorry about that. There is really nothing to see anyway, I just wanted to document the black hole where the baby is residing with it's teeny tiny little self.

Good news: My hyperstimulation has greatly diminished and I'm feeling much better.
Bad News: The doc says that I have a cyst about 9 centimeters in diameter attached to my right ovary. Doesn't cause much pain yet, but could cause more pain if I don't "take it easy" - whatever the heck that is supposed to mean with a toddler to chase. The cyst will not cause pregnancy complications, except for pain, and is expected to diminish on it's own.

Good News: I can now lift more than 5 pounds.
Bad News: In trying to lift my favorite 35 pound object (aka Emma) I threw out my back like a 97 year-old Grandma and have been hobbling around for the last 5 days. Today has been the FIRST day that I can actually walk without being hunched over Grannie style. Nutty.

Good News: Emma has been absolutely adorable lately and has been super patient with my recovery of hyperstimulation and back pain.
Bad News: Emma has also been a completely mess lately and has been super impatient as I try to recover from hyperstimulation and back pain. I swear I'm raising Jeckyl and Hyde some days. :)

Here she is entertaining herself in the kitchen while I cook dinner. Whatever it takes, right?

I gotta admit sometimes I think two for the price of one (pregnancies in my case:) sounds really good-at least until you start to think of all the implications AFTER they get here! Congrats on growing A good baby! Hope things continue to improve and that the cyst doesn't give you trouble as time goes on.

Congratulations! I'm so excited for you guys. I am also very interested in Emma's reaction to the idea of a brother or sister. Have you told her? What does she think?
