Grandpa is 88 going on 60.

My amazing Grandpa Hancock turned 88 on Monday.

For those of you that know him, you understand that "amazing" does not quite do him justice.

My Grandpa is absolutely solid. He is solid in the Gospel of Jesus Christ. He is solid in his love for his family. He is solid in his work ethic. He is solid in his desire for knowledge and learning. He is solid in his finances. He is solid in his new found affection for a puppy named "Mister". The man is solid.

My Grandma passed away last year, so this is his first birthday without her. When I asked him how his birthday was going he replied, "lonely". :( He loved her dearly and for years before she died, he took care of her so dutifully. She was his life and when she died she took half of him. He refuses to sleep in their master bedroom and has now moved himself down to the basement while renting out his main levels. He has tried to stay busy and actively engaged in good things. He goes to the temple EVERY morning from 6am-noon. Not because he is a temple worker, but just as a patron.

My cousin Crystal invited us all to her home on Sunday for a birthday party for Grandpa. Here he is with 9 of his great-grand-kids. L to R - Jasper, Treyson, Emma, Ivy, Gavin, Grant, Kennedy, Jack and Sydney.

And with the AZ married couples -

No, my cousin Crystal does not always wear her scout shirt around. She had just returned from a weekend boy scout retreat and literally walked in the door from camping and we were already there. She is a trooper!! And yes, we mocked her all night.

Monday was his actual birthday so the kids and I picked him up for a morning at the park and then treated him to McDonalds for lunch. Only the best for my Grandpa! :) I ordered him a Quarter Pounder meal and while eating his burger he kept commenting on how good it was and then finally asked me, "What was the name of this burger again? I need to go back and get it again some time." Too cute.

This is back to Sunday night... but stupid Blogger stuck it here. Sisters and Grandpa!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY Grandpa Hancock! WE LOVE YOU!!!
