What an immense joy this little cherub has brought into our home. We are so grateful that he is in our family.
Here he is in front of the birthday tree. Since the kids birthdays are so close to Christmas, we turn the Christmas tree into a birthday tree every year.
I never let the kids watch movies during the day, so it was a special treat that Grant got to watch "Cars" - his favorite movie in the morning. And of course, Emma was also grateful to reap the benefits.
Here is his BLUE birthday pancake shaped like a "2". He never has a huge appetite in the morning, so this barely got touched, but he thought it was fun to have a blue pancake at least.
We then met some friends at the park and brought along some birthday cookies.
In the evening, we went to see the zoo lights with Jeff and Michelle. Lucky for us, they stay on through the beginning
What an angel you are in our home. We feel so blessed to have you in our family. You are a constant source of happiness and joy. You are always smiling and you follow your sister around like a little puppy dog. You do everything that Emma does. You love to cuddle with us on the couch while watching movies/TV. You have really begun to LOVE books. I frequently find you in your bedroom reading to yourself. It is so cute because you have some favorite books and I can hear you mumbling the words to these books as you flip the pages. Currently, your favorite book is Old MacDonald. You love to be sung to at night before bed. Your favorite songs are Twinkle, Twinkle, Once There was a Snowman, Families Can be Together Forever, I Love to See the Temple and I am a Child of God. You lay your head on my shoulder while I'm singing and then pop your head up to give me the next request, only to lay your head right back down when I start singing what you want. You are still OBSESSED with cars and trains. You are never to be seen without either a car or train in your hand. And you can play for HOURS all by yourself and a hand full of trains or cars. You used to be a picky eater, but thankfully as you have gotten older you really do a good job of eating whatever we are having. You love strawberries and bananas and BEG me for fruit snacks every day. You love light switches and you love shutting doors, so I frequently walk through the house to find all the doors shut and all the lights off. You scream with delight when Daddy comes home from work and have followed in your sisters footsteps for loving to talk to him on the phone while he is driving home. You have really started to talk a lot in the last few months and I can mostly understand what you are trying to say. I think most other people can understand about 25% of what you are saying and I catch about 75%. You are a parakeet and repeat everything that comes out of my mouth. You had a wonderful time at Disneyland and really loved Cars Land and anything to do with Toy Story. For some reason you call Buzz and Woody both "della". We are not really sure where this came from, because you repeat other words so well, but it is cute, so we don't really correct you. You sleep with your prized Dumbo stuffed animal that you got for Christmas and you also sleep with a Goofy and Donald Duck toys you got at Disneyland. You love to jump on my bed after bath time while screaming "monkey jumping bed". You like to grab our hands and drag us to specific places in the house where you want us to do something for you. You have started to show your 2-year-old independence a lot and INSIST on climbing into your car seat, buckling seat belts, opening and closing doors, shutting the garage door, brushing your teeth, combing your hair, putting on shoes, etc. And despite my best effort to keep you sweet and perfect, you have started to throw a few tantrums when you don't get your way. Luckily, these are few and far between, but it is SHOCKING for us coming from our normally super pleasant baby boy. And while we are talking about minor flaws, you are also not a super star sleeper like your sister. Out of one week you generally refuse your naps about 3-4 days and it drives me crazy! Gratefully, when you refuse your nap you go to bed at 6pm and sleep until 8or9am. At least you are getting 15 hours of sleep in, but as a little guy you really need a rest during the day. You love it when your sister reads books to you. And bc you have an older sister, your favorite cartoons are girly ones. :) You love to help with sorting laundry and dishes. Which is not very helpful at all, but we try to let you do a small part. You LOVE going to nursery and are constantly begging during Sacrament Meeting to go play with the cars in Nursery. Every adult that comes in contact with you seems to be smitten. You have all your teachers and leaders wrapped around your little pinkie. Oh how we LOVE YOU!!!!!! Every day is pure joy. Thank you for being part of our family. Happy Second Birthday Son! I Love You, Mom
