Procreation Station

The first surgery is done and all is (mostly) well.

The best thing about the surgery is the sexy blue booties that adorned my feet. They are very fashion forward at my surgical center. Obviously.

They were able to retrieve 11 eggs. 8 of them were mature and 5 of them fertilized into embryos. We will know more on the status of the embryo quality as the days progress.

The bad news is that my silly ovaries decided to hyperstimulate. Again. My doctor has been watching me like a hawk - but the nature of IVF will always have a chance of hyperstimulating the ovaries.

The good news is that it is not as bad as the hyperstimulation with Emma's IVF. I was hospitalized for 5 days after that procedure and in horrible pain. This round is extremely uncomfortable - but not something I can't endure. Imagine the biggest meal you've ever eaten in your life, times your bloated feeling by 10 and you'll understand my current plight.

It's hard to move around, but I'm feeling better today than I did yesterday, so I hope that I'm on the slow mend. Thank goodness Greg is around to take care of Emma and my Mom is here from Kentucky for 10 days. What ever would we do without family/friends support?

If all continues to improve, we could have 2 of those 5 embryos implanted sometime next week. Hopefully the remaining 3 could be frozen for a later implantation.

Thank you so much for all your well wishes, good luck greetings, and prayers. We felt them in a very real way on Thursday morning and throughout.

I am so glad to hear that the retrieval was a success. You got more this time, if I remember correctly. So sorry that you're in pain, but happy that it's not requiring hospitalization. We love you guys so much, we'll continue to send out the happy vibes and good thoughts so all will be well.

Yeah, I've definitely had you in my prayers and on my mind--hoping that your over-achieving ovaries were just regular B+ ovaries this go-round. I hope you begin to feel better with each day!! Thanks for keeping us updated on operation LET'S ALL MAKE A BABY! :) I feel honored to have been invited ....erm...well, you know what I mean!

You have been in my thoughts and prayers. I was wondering how the procedure went and how you are doing. So even though it is not ideal with the hyperstimulation, I am glad you are doing better than last time. Thanks for the update and keep it coming!

Like everyone who knows and loves you-I have been thinking about you guys and how it was going. Wish I was close and could help out! I have learned my lesson, though. Pregnancy is a long row to hoe but I don't think I realized how fortunate I was to be able to go about it in the traditional fashion. Thank you for sharing and educating!! Hope you are feeling better soon.

I too have been thinking and praying for you for over a week now. I'm glad that everything went pretty smooth (minus the hyperstimulation :( ) and that they were able to retrieve and fertilize multiple embryos.

I'll continue to pray the next half of the process goes well. Any news on that front?

We're keeping every finger crossed for you guys as long as is humanly possible and hope it goes without saying that we're praying for you. I can't believe another round of hyperstimulation! (Anything else about you being hyper I buy in a minute, which is why I love you, but enough is enough right?!? :) ) you are such a trooper. :) J/K. Love you guys! Can't wait to hear your good news.
