Grandpa Hancock's 90th Birthday

My wonderful Grandpa Hancock turned 90 years old!!! We had quite the celebration for him!

He is one of the most wonderful men that I have ever known and I feel very blessed to call him Grandpa. He has always been so kind and loving and patient. When my Grandma got so ill, it was very special to see the tender way that he took care of her every need. He waited on her hand and foot. Made her meals, got her dressed, did her hair, cleaned the house, paid the bills and loved her unconditionally. As I am the closest grand child to him in proximity (he lives about 5 miles from me) - I am VERY blessed to see him regularly. I consider this one of my greatest blessings of living in Arizona. He has had such an impact in my life. My kids just LOVE having him and his dog, Mister over. They have developed a really special bond that I will forever cherish. He even babysits my kids for me. Sometimes after they are asleep, Greg and I will sneak out to a movie or dinner. And sometimes while Emma and I are doing "Let's Play Music" class, he will watch a movie with Grant.  He comes over almost every Sunday for dinner and at least a few times during the week he needs help with his IPAD or some other technology question.  We are always happy to have him in our home.  What a lucky grand daughter I am to have him be such a special part of my life.

My mom came into town to celebrate his 90th birthday.  Here they are installing book shelves for me in the kids' bedrooms.

Emma all dolled up for "penguin" day at school.  I made her hat myself, which I was very proud of! :)  I'm not very craft, so when I come up with something good, I have to share it!

We ate our dinner "al fresco" one evening.  Gotta love January in Arizona!!  When my Mom is in town, we get to see my Grandpa even more often, which is great!

Practicing a Disneyland hair-do for our upcoming trip!!  Minnie Ears!!

Grandpa came over with 2 huge garbage bags worth of oranges one day.  He and my Mom and Emma were squeezing oranges for over 2 hours!!  We bottled so much juice!  I froze it and we have been drinking it for months!

Here are some wonderful pictures of my Grandpa from when he was younger.  I just LOVE THEM!!

A lot of them are from when he was in the military.

We believe this picture was taken on my grandparents honeymoon!

The evening of my Grandpa's actual birthday the family that is here in Arizona, met at the Gilbert Temple to go through the Open House.  It was special to be there as a family.  Greg couldn't come because he was working at we went through at 4pm, so I was alone with the kids, and that was a little stressful.  After we had waited in line for so long, then you have to wait again for the movie (about the temple building process) and then wait again to walk through the temple, and then while you are in the temple you are supposed to be quiet and reverent.  But, but this time my kids were hungry, tired and sick of waiting.  I had to stop Emma from running into the baptismal font.  Ugh.  Needless to say, when we went through a few weeks later and I had Greg with me, my experience was much better!! :)

The kids played duck, duck goose for awhile while we waited.

We are so blessed to have a new temple in our area!!  The Gilbert Temple is humongous and beautiful in every way!!

Sydney and Emma.

The family!!

Despite the stressful evening with these munchkins, I am still so grateful that I can be with them forever!  I have a family here on earth, they are so good to me, I want to share my life with them, through all eternity.

After the temple we came back to my house for BBQ sandwiches and cake to celebrate!!

Happy 90th Birthday Grandpa!!!!  To the healthiest 90-year-old I have ever known!!!! Love you!

Thank you for always keeping it real with your kids! Now I know I'm not the only one with kids who are not perfectly behaved all of the time!
